Standard Tipping Etiquette
Tipping customs vary wildly across the globe. In the United States, tipping is a standard practice and makes up a significant portion of a server's income. Here is a general guide to tipping in the US:

- 18%: For good or standard service. Many restaurants automatically add an 18% gratuity for large parties (usually 6 or more).
- 20% or more: For excellent, above-and-beyond service.

What if there is an automatic gratuity?▼
If the restaurant has already added an automatic gratuity (often labeled as a 'service charge'), you do not need to leave an additional tip unless you feel the service was exceptional and you want to reward the server further.
Do I need to tip if the service was bad?▼
If the service was genuinely poor due to the server's actions (and not things out of their control, like kitchen delays), leaving a smaller tip (around 10%) sends a message. Leaving no tip is highly discouraged.
