Step Easy

How to Measure
Your Foot Length

Standard sizes can vary between brands. Measuring your actual foot length is the most accurate way to find your size.

Step Against Wall

Place a piece of paper on the floor against a flat wall. Stand on it with your heel touching the wall.

Mark Length

Use a pencil to mark the exact point where your longest toe ends on the paper.

Record Sizes

Use a ruler to measure the distance from the edge of the paper to the mark in inches or centimeters.

The Major Shoe Sizing Systems

Due to historical reasons, shoe manufacturers around the world use different sizing scales:

  • US & Canada: Uses a scale based on barleycorns (1/3 inch). There is an offset difference of 1.5 sizes between US Men and US Women (e.g. US Men 8 is equivalent to US Women 9.5).
  • United Kingdom (UK): Sized similarly to the US but shifted down by one size relative to US Men's sizing (e.g., US Men's 9 is UK 8).
  • Continental Europe (EU): Sized in Paris Points (2/3 of a centimeter). Unlike the US/UK system, European sizes are unisex.
  • Japan (JP) & China (CN): Uses direct physical length. Japan measures sizes directly in centimeters of the foot (e.g., a size 26 fits a 26cm foot). China utilizes the Mondopoint system or standard millimeter/centimeter intervals.

Fitting Best Practices:

  • Measure in the Afternoon: Feet swell slightly during the day. For the best fit, measure your feet in the late afternoon.
  • Larger Foot Rules: Most people have one foot slightly larger than the other. Always choose a shoe size that fits your larger foot.
  • Sock Space: Remember to wear the type of socks you intend to use with the shoes when measuring.
